About Rebecca

Rebecca Kane is a playwright, artistic administrator, stage manager, retired emo kid, and oatmilk enthusiast living in Astoria, Queens, by way of South Florida.

Her plays have been produced in multiple states across the U.S. (fifteen and counting), as well as streamed for performance as far as Delhi, India. Seven of her short plays and monologues have received at least one publication, including in Durham, England. She’s been featured in the Smith & Kraus “Best Of” publications four separate times.

She was a CyberTank Featured Artist at The Tank in 2020, a playwright in residence with Rogue Theater Festival and Rising Sun Performance Company, a City Artist Corps grant recipient from the New York Foundation for the Arts, and has too many Finalist titles in various playwriting competitions to conveniently list them here.
Her works frequently deal with violations of consent and boundaries (and the consequences of violating them), enduring despite trauma, and gray areas that may be too scary and uncomfortable to explore without the help of art.

She loves finding humor in darkness, tragedy in comedy, and tenderness and empathy in unexpected places and characters (with a special affinity for depicting social media influencers on stage).
Engaging her in a conversation is very easy if it’s about Gordon Ramsay reality shows, local Astoria politicians, and emo music from 2007-2010. Even easier if you have a dog with you.
